The History of Alpha Sigma Rho Sorority

Alpha Sigma Rho Sorority, Inc. Lambda Associate Chapter, is the first and only Asian-interest sorority at the University of Pittsburgh. It was established in 2020 by the Coveted Charter Class.

The first chapter of ASR was created at the University of Georgia at Athens in 1998 by our 12 Founding Mothers. Their mission was to spread sisterhood and Asian-awareness.

ASR treasures empowering women, celebrating the differences in our sisters, and creating lasting bonds of friendship. ASR has included sisters of all races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Our aim is to promote sisterhood, Asian-awareness, academic excellence, and service.
